Most designers I know grew up drawing or building things. I grew up loving math problems and ended up at IBM as an SAP consultant. Design became the plan when I realized I cared more about how people experience things than how systems process them.

Six years and several countries later, I've designed for surgeons, children, sports fans, usually in domains where getting the interface wrong has consequences. Outside of work I like learning new languages, following a variety of sports, and winning at board games more often than my friends would like.

I start from the system, not the screen. Before I design anything, I need to understand why it needs to exist, who it's actually for, and what breaks if it doesn't work. The visual decisions come after and they're almost always easier once the underlying logic is clear.

That's the kind of thinking I bring to complex, high-stakes products, and it's the work I keep finding myself drawn back to.
